A second look, made simple

Make the numbers useful.

Let the scores spark questions. Your favourite koi should still be the one you love looking at.

What makes a strong Body score?
55–69 · Credible
A sound frame with visible limitations.
70–84 · Strong
Well-supported body shape.
85–94 · Elite
Outstanding visible conformation.
95–100 · Exceptional
A rare, exceptional frame.

Below 55 indicates visible weaknesses. These describe body shape, not the whole koi or its chances at a show. Pose and photo quality affect what we can see.

How to read the charts

The median is the middle score. The typical range holds the middle half. Top 10% is an approximate boundary; tied scores can cross it. The red dot is your chosen score.

Each 10-point band includes its lower edge. The final band includes 100. Missing scores and group listings never enter the charts. Coverage counts individual listings, including those without enough information to score.

These are the koi listed on KoiLens, not a benchmark for every koi in the world. All recorded means the current catalogue including sold records, not a history of score changes.

What if a score is missing?

It means there is no usable assessment to show. It does not mean zero or a poor koi. Look at the dealer details and ask for a recent photo or video.

How much can a score tell me?

The scores use carefully developed calculations and the information available for that koi. They are not a judge’s opinion or a promise about health, growth, future colour or show results.

Show potential is part of Scout, not a separate score. A higher number is a reason to look closer, not a reason to skip your questions.
